Aujourd’hui, partons à la découverte du marché corse de Bastia

À la base du Cap Corse, au nord-est de l’île, Bastia s’adosse à la montagne en face de l’île d’Elbe. En bordure de la mer Tyrrhénienne, la ville d’environ 49 000 habitants présente des façades vieillies et colorées, une citadelle historique, des ruelles étroites grimpant sur des reliefs escarpés. Dans la rue de Napoléon, dans le quartier de Terra-Vecchia, l’oratoire Saint-Roch affiche une façade jaune pâle encadrée par quatre colonnes, avec un intérieur tapissé de dorures et de soies rouges. Plus loin, l’oratoire de l’Immaculée Conception se couvre de plaques de marbre de Carrare, au parvis composé d’une mosaïque de galets formant un soleil.

Le marché de Bastia en détail

La place du marché se situe à mi-chemin entre le Vieux-Port et la Place Saint-Nicolas. Tous les samedis et dimanches matin, face à l’Hôtel de ville, une soixantaine d’exposants proposent des produits agroalimentaires : fromages, fruits, huile d’olive, miel… En bonne place, la charcuterie corse (figatelli fermiers, lonzu, coppa…), le brocciu de brebis, les châtaignes, le cédrat, les clémentines, le citron et les biscuits qui en découlent (canistrelli, cuggiulelle, migliacci…).
